A proud moment for The Gyaan Project
Akarmaa organisation has published 2 books on life and thoughts of Prof. Neelkanth Chhaya. The Gyaan Project is proud to be a contributor in it.
Many of you might recall the story of the squirrel who contributed tiny grains of sand during the bridge's construction to Lanka. Despite its small size, its sincere efforts earned Lord Ram’s affectionate appreciation. This story beautifully illustrates the profound impact even small contributions can make.
Similarly, The Gyaan Project (formerly Audiogyan) has always been about contributing our bit to the vast ocean of knowledge and wisdom. Over 300+ episodes, I've had the privilege of documenting conversations with over 30 architects. Despite not having a background in architecture, I've endeavored to humbly archive their thoughts, ideas, and philosophies—hoping these small contributions find meaning and spark reflection.
My all-time favorite remains the 100th episode with the legendary late B.V. Doshi, yet one particularly memorable interaction was Episode 204 with Professor and Architect Neelkanth Chhaya, where we explored the nuanced theme of standardization.
Now, the exciting news:
At the beginning of 2025, Akarmaa, a multi-disciplinary collective dedicated to heritage, environment, and education, published two beautiful books celebrating Prof. Neelkanth Chhaya’s life and teachings:
Volume 1: In Gratitude, On Education
Volume 2: Listening to Stillness, On Architecture
My conversation with Prof. Chhaya has been honored as the opening chapter of "In Gratitude, On Education." This recognition deeply humbles and encourages me. It is a reminder that each small effort, made with sincerity, has its place in a much larger story.
In the words of Prof. Chhaya, "Knowledge should be explosive so that it cannot be managed." Inspired by his wisdom, we have initiated a book donation drive, aiming to deliver wisdom and inspiration to remote villages, and curious minds everywhere, regardless of their background.
Below are links to purchase the books, participate in our donation drive, and explore curated playlists of architects featured on The Gyaan Project.
Thank you for your support. Let’s keep learning and building together.
Warmly,
Kedar Nimkar
